Safety and trust at The Reserv

What's built in today

• Adults only. The Reserv is for people 18 and older. Your date of birth is required at sign-up and is used to confirm eligibility.
• Real account sign-in. Accounts are created with Sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. This is account authentication — it confirms control of an account, not who a person is.
• Dates happen in public restaurants. Every plan on The Reserv is anchored to a restaurant reservation. First meetings happen at a public table, not a private address.
• The host chooses, the guest chooses. Guests explicitly pick a plan and request the seat; hosts review the request and profile, and accept only who they want to meet. Nobody is auto-assigned to a dinner.
• Chat only after acceptance. Messaging opens once a host accepts a request, which keeps conversations tied to a concrete, mutually chosen plan.
• Reservation confirmation. Hosts submit their reservation confirmation before a plan goes live. This verifies the restaurant booking exists — it is not identity verification.
• Reporting and blocking. You can report or block another user in the app. Reports go to our trust & safety review, and the person you report is never told who reported them.
• Community standards. Our Terms of Service set the rules of conduct, and accounts that break them can be removed.
• Limited data sharing, no background tracking. Profile and plan details are shared only as needed to make the product work, and the app does not track your location in the background. Details in our Privacy Policy.
• You can leave entirely. Account deletion is built into the app (Profile → Delete my account).

What we don't claim

Plenty of dating products blur this part. We won't:

• The Reserv does not run background checks on users.
• The Reserv cannot guarantee that a user is who they claim to be. Account sign-in and reservation confirmation are not identity verification.
• A public restaurant reduces some risks but does not make a date risk-free.
• We cannot guarantee attendance, behavior, or outcomes. People are people.

Practical first-date guidance

The best safety tooling is still your own judgment. Our standing recommendations, on The Reserv or anywhere else:

1. Tell someone you trust where you are going, with whom, and when you expect to be done. Share the restaurant name.
2. Get there and back on your own — your own car, ride, or transit.
3. Keep the first date to the public venue. Skip the “afterparty at mine” on night one.
4. Watch your drink, and drink at your own pace.
5. If anything feels off, leave. You owe a stranger nothing — politeness included. Restaurant staff can help if you need it.
6. Afterwards, report anything concerning in the app so the next person doesn't meet the problem you did.
